CEDRE PROJECT Control and Study of Child Restraint Systems |
PREFECTURE DE L'EURE |
|
PRESENTATION
517 children above 10 years were killed in Road Accidents in Europe in 2007.
In France, 74 children died this same year. Most of these fatalities could have been
avoid if the child has been restrained correctly in an appropriate Child Restraint System (CRS).
In some cases, children are not attached or installed without child seat (on knees of parents i.e).
Harness are often bad adjusted and infant seat are not installed correctly.
These conditions increase the risk of ejection and the risk of severe injuries for the child who is not correctly maintained in his child seat. The CEDRE Project aims to get a picture of CRS use in France and to know the reasons of these misuses. The traveling conditions in cars of 431 children have been evaluated between july 2008 and june 2009 in the Administrative Department of Eure (Normandy) in different situations of traffic : school trips, shopping, holidays departure,… |
